Artist Info
Amalia Hall is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and chamber musician. Born in New Zealand, Amalia began playing the violin at the age of two and showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents, both musicians themselves, recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Amalia's early years were spent studying with some of the best violin teachers in New Zealand, including Lynley Culliford and Jan Tawroszewicz. She also attended the University of Auckland, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours. During this time, Amalia won numerous awards and competitions, including the National Concerto Competition and the Gisborne International Music Competition. After completing her studies in New Zealand, Amalia moved to the United States to further her education. She attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she studied with renowned violinist Miriam Fried. Amalia also had the opportunity to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra during her time in Boston. Upon completing her studies in the United States, Amalia returned to New Zealand and began performing as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation as one of the country's most talented young musicians, and was invited to perform with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. In 2011, Amalia was appointed as the concertmaster of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, a position she held for three years. During her time with the orchestra, Amalia performed as a soloist and led the orchestra in numerous concerts and recordings. In addition to her work with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Amalia has also performed with the New Zealand String Quartet, the New Zealand Chamber Soloists, and the Turnovsky Trio. She has toured extensively throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as Europe and Asia. One of the highlights of Amalia's career came in 2015, when she was invited to perform at the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, USA. The festival, which is known for its high standards and rigorous selection process, brings together some of the world's most talented young musicians to collaborate and perform together. Amalia's performance at the festival was widely praised, and she was invited back to perform again in 2016. In addition to her performing career, Amalia is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught at the University of Auckland and the New Zealand School of Music, and has given masterclasses and workshops throughout New Zealand and Australia. Amalia's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2016, she was awarded the prestigious Arts Foundation New Generation Award, which recognizes outstanding young artists in New Zealand. She has also been a finalist in the New Zealand Music Awards and the Lexus Song Quest. Despite her many accomplishments, Amalia remains humble and focused on her music. She continues to perform and teach, and is dedicated to sharing her love of classical music with audiences and students around the world.More....
