With Zeitkratzer, he has performed all over the world and has collaborated with some of the most innovative composers of our time, including John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Lou Reed. Hayward's solo work is also highly regarded. He has released several albums, including "States of Rushing" and "Stop Time," which showcase his unique approach to the tuba. He is known for his use of microtonal scales and his ability to create complex, layered textures with the instrument. In addition to his work as a performer, Hayward is also a respected educator. He has taught at several institutions, including the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He is also the founder of the Tubax Collective, a group of tuba players who are dedicated to exploring the possibilities of the instrument.
