From a young age, Eva showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She later started playing the violin at the age of six and the cello at the age of eight. Eva's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned cellist Heinrich Schiff at the age of 12 and later studied with David Geringas at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. Eva also attended masterclasses with Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Isserlis, and Mstislav Rostropovich, among others. In 2004, Eva won first prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria, which launched her career as a soloist. She went on to perform with major orchestras around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. One of Eva's most memorable performances was at the 2008 BBC Proms, where she performed Dvořák's Cello Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jiří Bělohlávek. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing Eva's playing as "soulful and deeply expressive." Eva has also been recognized for her recordings, winning the Echo Klassik Award in 2010 for her recording of Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. She has recorded extensively for major labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Sony Classical, and EMI Classics. In addition to her solo career, Eva is also a dedicated chamber musician. She has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Artemis Quartet, the Belcea Quartet, and the Hagen Quartet. Eva is also a member of the Trio Zimmermann, which she formed with violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and violist Antoine Tamestit in 2007.
