Manu Delago is a renowned Austrian composer, percussionist, and hang player. He was born on July 27, 1984, in Innsbruck, Austria. Delago grew up in a musical family, and his father was a music teacher. He started playing the drums at the age of two and later learned to play the piano and the guitar. Delago was fascinated by the sound of the hang, a percussion instrument that resembles a steel drum, and started playing it in his early twenties. Delago studied music at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. He also attended masterclasses with renowned percussionists such as Trilok Gurtu and Zakir Hussain. Delago's unique style of playing the hang and his innovative compositions quickly gained recognition in the music industry. In 2007, Delago released his debut album, "Made in Silence," which featured his compositions for the hang and other percussion instruments. He has also performed at major music festivals around the world, such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Glastonbury Festival, and the Sydney Opera House. One of Delago's most notable performances was at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, where he played the hang alongside British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran. Delago has received several awards and nominations for his work, including the Austrian Music Award in 2013 and the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2016.
