Kiev Pro Musica is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1990 in Kiev, Ukraine. The ensemble is known for its exceptional performances of classical music, particularly works by Ukrainian composers. The founding members of Kiev Pro Musica were a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for classical music. They were led by the ensemble's artistic director and conductor, Mykola Suk, who had previously served as the conductor of the Kiev Chamber Orchestra. From the beginning, Kiev Pro Musica set out to showcase the rich musical heritage of Ukraine. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by Ukrainian composers such as Mykola Lysenko, Borys Lyatoshynsky, and Valentyn Silvestrov, as well as classical works by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. Over the years, Kiev Pro Musica has become one of the most respected classical music ensembles in Ukraine and beyond. The ensemble has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. One of the highlights of Kiev Pro Musica's career was its performance at the 1994 Edinburgh International Festival. The ensemble received critical acclaim for its performance of works by Ukrainian composers, and the concert was hailed as a triumph for Ukrainian classical music. Kiev Pro Musica has also been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1995, the ensemble was awarded the title of "Honored Ensemble of Ukraine" by the Ukrainian government. In 2000, the ensemble received the prestigious Shevchenko National Prize, which is awarded to individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to Ukrainian culture. The members of Kiev Pro Musica are all highly skilled musicians who have received extensive training in classical music. Many of the ensemble's members have studied at some of the world's most renowned music schools, including the Moscow Conservatory and the Juilliard School in New York. Despite its success, Kiev Pro Musica remains committed to promoting Ukrainian classical music and introducing audiences around the world to the rich musical heritage of Ukraine. The ensemble continues to perform regularly, both in Ukraine and abroad, and its performances are always eagerly anticipated by classical music lovers.
