He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. From a young age, Kjell showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He later learned to play the violin and the viola, which became his primary instrument. Kjell's talent was recognized early on, and he was accepted into the Royal College of Music in Stockholm at the age of 16. He studied under some of the most prominent music teachers in Sweden, including Tor Mann, who was a renowned violinist and conductor. Kjell's dedication and hard work paid off, and he graduated with honors from the college in 1953. After completing his studies, Kjell began his career as a professional musician. He joined the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra as a violist and quickly established himself as one of the most talented musicians in the orchestra. He also began performing as a soloist and chamber musician, and his performances were highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Kjell's career reached new heights in the 1960s when he was invited to perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe, including the Salzburg Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. He also performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. In 1967, Kjell was appointed as the principal violist of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held for over 20 years. Kjell's talent and dedication were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1972, he was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal by the Swedish government for his contributions to the arts. He was also awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's prestigious Litteris et Artibus medal in 1982. Kjell's legacy as a musician and teacher continues to inspire generations of musicians.
