Mallarmé Chamber Players is a classical music ensemble based in Durham, North Carolina. The group was founded in 1984 by flutist Anna Ludwig Wilson and cellist Suzanne Rousso, who were both members of the North Carolina Symphony at the time. The ensemble takes its name from the French poet Stéphane Mallarmé, who was known for his innovative use of language and his interest in the arts. The Mallarmé Chamber Players specialize in performing chamber music, which is music written for small groups of instruments. The group's repertoire includes works from a wide range of composers, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as contemporary composers such as John Adams and Philip Glass. The ensemble's main members include Anna Ludwig Wilson on flute, Suzanne Rousso on cello, Jacqueline Saed Wolborsky on violin, and Rebekah Binford on piano. Over the years, the group has also featured a rotating cast of guest musicians, including clarinetists, violists, and percussionists. One of the highlights of the Mallarmé Chamber Players' career was their performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to their regular concert series, the Mallarmé Chamber Players have also collaborated with a number of other organizations and artists over the years.
