Duo Intermezzo is a classical music duo consisting of pianist Maria and cellist Anna. The duo was formed in 2005 when the two musicians met while studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. Maria was born in Russia and began playing the piano at the age of five. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory. After completing her studies, Maria moved to the United States to further her education at Juilliard. Anna was born in Germany and started playing the cello at the age of six. She also showed a natural talent for the instrument and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Anna later moved to the United States to study at Juilliard. The two musicians quickly became friends and began playing together as a duo. They were soon recognized for their exceptional talent and began performing at major venues around the world. One of the highlights of Duo Intermezzo's career was their performance at Carnegie Hall in 2010. The duo received a standing ovation from the audience and was praised for their technical skill and emotional depth. Duo Intermezzo has also won several awards for their performances. In 2012, they won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise.
