Born on May 22, 1988, in Madrid, Spain, González-Monjas grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Juan González, is a renowned cellist, and his mother, Ana Monjas, is a pianist. From a young age, González-Monjas showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of three. González-Monjas received his early musical education at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he studied with the renowned violinist Zakhar Bron. He later continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany, where he studied with Christoph Poppen. During his time in Munich, González-Monjas also studied conducting with Bruno Weil. González-Monjas made his debut as a soloist at the age of 12, performing with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals around the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the BBC Proms. In addition to his work as a soloist, González-Monjas is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. He is also a founding member of the Quartet Gerhard, a string quartet based in Spain. González-Monjas is known for his passionate and expressive playing, as well as his technical virtuosity. He has been praised for his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he plays, and for his ability to connect with audiences on a deep level. In addition to his work as a performer, González-Monjas is also an accomplished conductor. He has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He is also the principal conductor of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in Madrid. González-Monjas has received many awards and honors throughout his career. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, one of the highest honors in Spain. He has also been awarded the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis Prize, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award.
