He was the son of a musician and began his musical training at a young age. Lovreglio showed a natural talent for music and quickly became proficient in playing the clarinet. At the age of 16, Lovreglio moved to Naples to study at the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella. There, he studied under the renowned clarinetist and composer, Giuseppe Buonamici. Lovreglio's talent and dedication to music quickly became apparent, and he was soon recognized as one of the most promising young musicians of his generation. After completing his studies, Lovreglio began his career as a professional musician. He performed in various orchestras and ensembles throughout Italy, and his reputation as a skilled clarinetist and composer continued to grow. In 1865, he was appointed as the principal clarinetist of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, one of the most prestigious opera houses in Italy. Throughout his career, Lovreglio composed numerous works for the clarinet, including concertos, sonatas, and chamber music. His compositions were known for their technical difficulty and virtuosity, and they quickly became popular among clarinetists around the world. One of Lovreglio's most famous works is his "Fantasia on Themes from Verdi's La Traviata," which he composed in 1881. The piece is a virtuosic showpiece for the clarinet, and it remains a staple of the clarinet repertoire to this day. Lovreglio's other notable works include his "Fantasia on Themes from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor," his "Fantasia on Themes from Bellini's Norma," and his "Fantasia on Themes from Mozart's Don Giovanni." In addition to his work as a composer and performer, Lovreglio was also a respected teacher. He taught at the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples, where he had studied as a young man.
