Born on October 2, 1973, in Oberndorf, Austria, Furrer grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a conductor, and her mother was a pianist. Furrer started playing the flute at the age of six and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Furrer's musical education began at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she studied flute with Wolfgang Schulz. She later continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she studied with Dieter Flury. During her studies, Furrer also attended masterclasses with renowned flutists such as Aurèle Nicolet and Peter-Lukas Graf. After completing her studies, Furrer began her career as a flutist, performing with various orchestras and ensembles in Austria and abroad.
