Born on December 4, 1963, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mainetti grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Osvaldo Mainetti, was a composer and conductor, while his mother, Susana Naidich, was a pianist. From a young age, Mainetti was exposed to music and began playing the bandoneon at the age of eight. Mainetti's early musical education was primarily focused on tango music, which is a popular genre in Argentina. He studied with renowned bandoneon players such as Rodolfo Mederos and Néstor Marconi, and quickly developed a reputation as a talented musician. In 1983, he joined the Orquesta Típica Fernandez Fierro, a tango orchestra that was known for its innovative approach to the genre. Despite his success in the tango world, Mainetti was also interested in exploring other genres of music. He began studying classical music and composition, and in 1990, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Conservatoire National de Région de Marseille in France. He formed the Pablo Mainetti Quintet, which consisted of bandoneon, violin, guitar, piano, and bass, and began performing in venues throughout Argentina and Europe. Mainetti's career continued to flourish throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He performed with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and collaborated with musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim. He also released several albums, including "Tango Cosmopolita" and "Tango y Cámara," which showcased his unique blend of tango and classical music. In 2003, he was awarded the Konex Award, which is one of the most prestigious awards in Argentina, for his contributions to the field of popular music. He has also been recognized by the Argentine National Academy of Tango, which awarded him the title of "Master of Bandoneon" in 2010. Today, Mainetti continues to perform and compose music, and is considered one of the most important figures in the world of tango and classical music.
