Artist Info
Neave Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2010 by violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura. The trio has gained recognition for their passionate and dynamic performances, as well as their innovative programming that combines traditional classical repertoire with contemporary works. Anna Williams, originally from the United Kingdom, began playing the violin at the age of four. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Mikhail Veselov, originally from Russia, began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and later at the New England Conservatory. Eri Nakamura, originally from Japan, began playing the piano at the age of three. She studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and later at the New England Conservatory. The three musicians met while studying at the New England Conservatory and formed Neave Trio in 2010. The ensemble takes its name from the Gaelic word "neave," which means "bright" or "radiant." The trio's mission is to bring new life to classical music through their performances and programming. Neave Trio has performed at major venues and festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Wigmore Hall in London. The trio has also been featured on numerous radio programs, including NPR's "Performance Today" and "From the Top." In addition to their performances, Neave Trio is committed to education and outreach. The ensemble has conducted masterclasses and workshops at schools and universities throughout the United States and has also worked with organizations such as the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. Neave Trio has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2011, the trio won the Grand Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, one of the most prestigious chamber music competitions in the United States. The trio was also awarded the Bronze Medal at the 2015 International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. Neave Trio has released several critically acclaimed recordings, including their debut album "American Moments" in 2016, which features works by American composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Astor Piazzolla, and Paul Schoenfield. The trio's second album, "Her Voice," was released in 2019 and features works by female composers such as Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, and Jennifer Higdon. Neave Trio's performances are characterized by their technical precision, emotional depth, and innovative programming. The trio's ability to seamlessly blend traditional classical repertoire with contemporary works has earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic ensembles in the classical music world.More....
