Ingeborg Lasser was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1922, in Vienna, Austria. She was the daughter of a prominent Austrian conductor and composer, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Ingeborg showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ingeborg received her formal music education at the Vienna Academy of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned music teachers of the time. She excelled in her studies and was soon recognized as a prodigious talent. In 1940, at the age of 18, she made her debut as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major. Ingeborg's career took off after her debut, and she quickly became one of the most sought-after pianists in Europe. She performed extensively throughout the continent, playing with some of the most prestigious orchestras and conductors of the time. Her performances were always highly acclaimed, and she was praised for her technical skill, musicality, and emotional depth. One of the highlights of Ingeborg's career was her performance at the Salzburg Festival in 1952. She played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler. The performance was a huge success, and Ingeborg received a standing ovation from the audience. The concert was broadcast live on radio and was later released as a recording, which became one of the best-selling classical music albums of the time. Ingeborg continued to perform and record throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and she received numerous awards and accolades for her work. In 1956, she was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for her recording of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. In 1961, she was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, and in 1967, she was made an honorary member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Ingeborg's career slowed down in the 1970s, as she began to suffer from health problems. She continued to perform and record, but at a more leisurely pace. In 1982, she gave her final public performance, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The concert was a fitting end to a remarkable career, and Ingeborg received a standing ovation from the audience. Ingeborg Lasser passed away on January 17, 1984, at the age of 61.
