The Patterson Sutton Duo is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by pianist, Dr. Karen Patterson, and cellist, Dr. Wesley Sutton. The duo has gained recognition for their dynamic performances and unique interpretations of classical music. Dr. Karen Patterson received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Wesley Sutton received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas and has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States. The Patterson Sutton Duo has performed in various venues across the United States, including the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, and the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. They have also performed internationally in Italy, France, and Germany. One of the highlights of the Patterson Sutton Duo's career was their performance at the 2014 National Flute Association Convention in Chicago. They performed a program of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff, which received high praise from the audience and critics alike. In addition to their performances, the Patterson Sutton Duo has also received numerous awards and recognitions. They were awarded the 2013-2014 Artist Residency at the University of North Texas, where they performed and taught masterclasses. They were also finalists in the 2014 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition and the 2015 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The Patterson Sutton Duo is known for their unique interpretations of classical music, which often incorporate improvisation and experimentation.
