Rosemarie Lahrs was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. Lahrs showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Lahrs received her first violin lessons from her mother and later studied with renowned violinists such as Ulf Hoelscher and Kolja Blacher. She also attended the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. Lahrs made her debut as a soloist at the age of 14, performing with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. One of Lahrs' most notable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2009, where she performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The New York Times describing Lahrs' playing as "dazzling" and "virtuosic." Lahrs has also won several awards throughout her career, including first prize at the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis in 2006 and the International Violin Competition in Montreal in 2008. She was also a finalist in the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 2012. In addition to her solo career, Lahrs is also an active chamber musician. She has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Lahrs is also a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, where she has been a first violinist since 2010.
