The Brno Janácek Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Brno, Czech Republic. The orchestra was founded in 1958 by the conductor František Jílek, who served as its artistic director until his death in 1993. The ensemble is named after the famous Czech composer Leoš Janácek, who was born in Brno. The Brno Janácek Orchestra is composed of around 70 musicians, including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The orchestra has a reputation for its high level of musicianship and its commitment to performing the works of Czech composers, particularly Janácek and Antonín Dvořák. Over the years, the Brno Janácek Orchestra has performed in many prestigious venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. The orchestra's current artistic director is the conductor Marko Ivanović, who has led the ensemble since 2016.
