Role:PerformerMarko Mimica is a Croatian bass-baritone opera singer who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born on May 5, 1982, in Split, Croatia, Mimica grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a conductor, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Mimica showed a keen interest in music and began singing in choirs and playing the piano. Mimica's formal music education began at the age of 14 when he enrolled in the Split Music School. He studied piano and singing, and it was during this time that he discovered his love for opera. After completing his studies at the music school, Mimica went on to study at the Zagreb Academy of Music, where he received a degree in singing. In 2006, Mimica made his professional debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, where he performed the role of Colline in Puccini's "La Bohème." This performance marked the beginning of Mimica's career as an opera singer. Over the years, he has performed in numerous productions in Croatia and around the world. One of Mimica's most notable performances was in 2010 when he performed the role of Don Giovanni in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Mimica's performance was praised by critics, who noted his powerful voice and commanding stage presence. This performance helped to establish Mimica as one of the leading opera singers in Croatia. In 2012, Mimica was invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival in Austria, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. Mimica performed the role of Zuniga in Bizet's "Carmen," and his performance was once again met with critical acclaim. Mimica's performance at the Salzburg Festival helped to raise his profile on the international stage. Mimica has also performed at other major opera houses around the world, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
