He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, Montanaro had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigy. In 1997, Montanaro was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Sergio Fiorentino, and graduated with honors in 2003. After completing his studies, Montanaro began performing in concerts and recitals throughout Italy. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist, known for his technical skill and emotional depth. In 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, cementing his status as one of Italy's most promising young musicians. Montanaro's career continued to flourish, and he began performing internationally. In 2007, he made his debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, receiving critical acclaim for his performance. He also performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. Montanaro's repertoire was diverse, ranging from classical works by Mozart and Beethoven to contemporary pieces by modern composers. He was particularly known for his interpretations of Chopin, and his recordings of Chopin's works received widespread praise. In addition to his solo performances, Montanaro also collaborated with other musicians and orchestras. He performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. Montanaro's talent and dedication to music were recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, the highest honor in Italian classical music. He was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, one of Italy's highest civilian honors. Despite his success, Montanaro remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours every day, always striving to improve his technique and interpretation. He also taught master classes and mentored young musicians, passing on his knowledge and passion for music to the next generation. Tragically, Montanaro's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. He underwent treatment, but his condition worsened, and he passed away on June 15, 2016, at the age of 31.
