He was the youngest of four children and grew up in a musical family. His father was a conductor and his mother was a pianist. Jaring showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Jaring's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began studying the piano with his mother and later with the renowned Dutch pianist, Jan Odé. Jaring's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became known for his technical skill and musicality. In 1938, Jaring was accepted into the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of the famous Dutch pianist, Willem Andriessen. During his time at the conservatory, Jaring won several awards and prizes for his performances, including the prestigious Prix d'Excellence. After completing his studies at the conservatory, Jaring began performing professionally as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation, and his performances were highly sought after. In 1947, Jaring made his debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a huge success, and Jaring was praised for his technical skill and musicality. This performance marked the beginning of Jaring's career as a soloist with major orchestras around the world. Over the course of his career, Jaring performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He also performed at major music festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. Jaring was known for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert, and he recorded many of their works for major record labels, including Philips and Deutsche Grammophon. His recordings were highly acclaimed, and he won several awards for his recordings, including the Edison Award and the Grand Prix du Disque. In addition to his career as a performer, Jaring was also a respected teacher. He taught at the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, and many of his students went on to have successful careers as pianists. Jaring continued to perform and teach until his death on December 29, 1996, at the age of 76.
