The Cieszyn Silesian University Choir is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its exceptional performances for over 50 years. The choir was founded in 1969 by a group of students from the Cieszyn Silesian University in Poland, who shared a passion for choral music and wanted to create a platform to showcase their talents. The founding members of the choir were a group of 30 students, led by their conductor, Professor Jan Szyrocki. Under his guidance, the choir quickly gained recognition for its exceptional performances and became a prominent fixture in the Polish choral music scene. Over the years, the choir has undergone several changes in its membership, but its commitment to excellence in choral music has remained unwavering. Today, the choir comprises around 60 members, including students, alumni, and community members, all of whom share a deep love for classical music and a dedication to perfecting their craft. The Cieszyn Silesian University Choir has performed extensively both nationally and internationally, earning critical acclaim for its exceptional performances. Some of the choir's most notable performances include its appearances at the prestigious International Festival of Choral Music in Cork, Ireland, and the International Festival of Sacred Music in Rome, Italy. The choir has also won numerous awards and accolades for its outstanding performances, including the Grand Prix at the International Festival of Choral Music in Cork, Ireland, and the Gold Medal at the International Festival of Sacred Music in Rome, Italy. In addition to its performances and awards, the Cieszyn Silesian University Choir is also committed to promoting choral music education and outreach. The choir regularly hosts workshops and masterclasses for aspiring choral musicians, and it has also collaborated with other choirs and orchestras to create unique and innovative performances. One of the choir's most notable collaborations was with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom they performed a stunning rendition of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
