Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1979, Antonova showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument, and her parents enrolled her in the National School of Music in Sofia, where she received rigorous training in both piano performance and music theory. Antonova's talent continued to blossom throughout her teenage years, and she began to attract attention from prominent musicians and music educators in Bulgaria. In 1996, she was awarded first prize in the National Piano Competition in Sofia, which helped to launch her career as a professional musician. She went on to study at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where she received a Bachelor's degree in piano performance with honors. After completing her studies in Bulgaria, Antonova moved to the United States to pursue further training and performance opportunities. She enrolled in the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher. Under Fleisher's guidance, Antonova honed her technical skills and developed a deeper understanding of the nuances of musical interpretation. Antonova's talent and hard work paid off in 2002, when she won first prize in the prestigious William Kapell International Piano Competition. This victory brought her international recognition and opened doors to major performance opportunities around the world. She has since performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. Antonova's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by many of the great composers of the classical tradition, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the music of Sergei Prokofiev, and has been praised for her ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of his compositions. In addition to her busy performance schedule, Antonova is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. She has taught master classes at universities and conservatories around the world, and has served as a judge for numerous international piano competitions. Throughout her career, Antonova has received numerous awards and accolades for her musical achievements.
