Mika Takehara is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a percussionist. Born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 28, 1975, Takehara grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a jazz pianist, and her mother was a classical pianist. From a young age, Takehara was exposed to music and began playing the piano at the age of three. As Takehara grew older, she became interested in percussion instruments and began studying the marimba and vibraphone. She attended the Tokyo University of the Arts, where she studied under the tutelage of Keiko Abe, a renowned marimba player. Takehara graduated from the university in 1998 with a Bachelor of Music degree. After completing her studies, Takehara moved to the United States to further her education. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the guidance of Gordon Gottlieb, a prominent percussionist.
