Stephen Lewis was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Lewis showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Lewis received his formal music education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the academy, Lewis won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Club Prize, which is awarded to the most outstanding student of the year. After graduating from the academy, Lewis began his professional career as a concert pianist, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and exciting young pianists of his generation. One of Lewis's most memorable performances was his debut at the Proms in 2009, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing Lewis's playing as "mesmerizing" and "spellbinding." In addition to his solo performances, Lewis has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.
