He was born on 12th June 1950 in Vienna, Austria. His parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue music from a young age. Bock showed a keen interest in music and started playing the piano when he was just five years old. He was a prodigious talent, and his parents recognized his potential early on. Bock's parents enrolled him in a music school in Vienna, where he received formal training in piano and music theory. He showed exceptional talent and quickly rose through the ranks. By the time he was a teenager, he was already performing in public concerts and competitions. His performances were well-received, and he won several awards and accolades. In 1968, Bock was accepted into the Vienna Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music schools in Europe. He studied under some of the most renowned music teachers of the time, including Friedrich Gulda and Martha Argerich. Bock's talent and dedication to music were evident, and he quickly became one of the top students in his class. After completing his studies at the Vienna Conservatory, Bock embarked on a career as a concert pianist. He performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, earning critical acclaim for his virtuosity and musicality. He was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. Bock's performances were characterized by his technical brilliance and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the music. He was a master of dynamics, able to create a range of moods and atmospheres through his playing. His performances were always well-received, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. In 1975, Bock won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. The competition was one of the most prestigious in the world, and winning it was a significant achievement. Bock's performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 was hailed as a masterpiece, and he was awarded the first prize. The win at the Chopin Competition catapulted Bock to international fame. He was invited to perform at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. His performances were always sold out, and he was in high demand as a soloist and chamber musician. Bock's career continued to flourish throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
