From a young age, Miura was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with her mother. Miura's family moved to the United States when she was eight years old, and she continued her piano studies with various teachers. She attended the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division in New York City, where she studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky. She later attended the Juilliard School for her undergraduate and graduate degrees, studying with Robert McDonald and Jerome Lowenthal. Miura's talent as a pianist was recognized early on, and she began performing in public at a young age. She won her first competition at the age of nine, and went on to win numerous other competitions throughout her career. In 2002, she won the Juilliard School's Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, and in 2003, she won the International Russian Music Piano Competition in San Jose, California. Miura has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in recital at major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall. One of Miura's most notable performances was her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2005, where she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Lorin Maazel. The performance was widely praised, with The New York Times calling Miura "a pianist of uncommon sensitivity and refinement." Miura has also been recognized for her recordings. Her debut album, released in 2007, featured works by Chopin, Schumann, and Liszt, and was praised by critics for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. She has since released several other albums, including a recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the San Francisco Symphony. In addition to her performing career, Miura is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, as well as at the Aspen Music Festival and School. She has also given masterclasses around the world, and is known for her ability to inspire and guide young musicians. Miura's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2006, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes young musicians with exceptional talent and potential. She was also named a Gilmore Young Artist in 2008, and was awarded the Arthur Rubinstein Prize at the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv. Despite her many accomplishments, Miura remains humble and focused on her art. She continues to perform and teach, and is dedicated to sharing her love of music with audiences and students around the world.More....
