Kevin Vigneau is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself in the world of music. Born on August 12, 1985, in New York City, Kevin grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a violinist. From a young age, Kevin was exposed to classical music and developed a passion for it. Kevin started playing the clarinet when he was just eight years old. He showed a natural talent for the instrument and quickly progressed. He began taking lessons with renowned clarinetist David Shifrin, who recognized Kevin's potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Kevin attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Mark Nuccio, the principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic. He also studied with Anthony McGill, the principal clarinetist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. During his time at Juilliard, Kevin won several awards, including the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music. After graduating from Juilliard, Kevin joined the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. The New World Symphony is a prestigious training orchestra for young musicians, and Kevin was one of only a few clarinetists selected to join the program. During his time with the New World Symphony, Kevin had the opportunity to work with some of the world's leading conductors and soloists. In 2010, Kevin won the position of principal clarinetist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans. This was a significant achievement for Kevin, as the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the top orchestras in the United States. As principal clarinetist, Kevin was responsible for leading the clarinet section and playing many of the orchestra's most challenging solos. Kevin's performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra were widely praised by critics and audiences alike. He was known for his beautiful tone, technical precision, and expressive playing. He also became a sought-after soloist, performing with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States. In addition to his work with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Kevin is also an active chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. He is also a founding member of the clarinet quartet, The Moanin' Frogs, which has gained a following for its innovative and entertaining performances. Kevin has won numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2012, he was named a Yamaha Performing Artist, an honor given to only a select few musicians each year. He has also been a finalist in several prestigious competitions, including the International Clarinet Association Young Artist Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Kevin is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught at several universities and music schools, including Loyola University New Orleans and the University of Michigan. He is known for his patient and supportive teaching style, and many of his students have gone on to successful careers in music. In addition to his work as a musician and teacher, Kevin is also a passionate advocate for music education.
