Marie Sande Papenmeyer was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Marie showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Marie's early musical education was under the guidance of her mother, who taught her the basics of piano playing. She later went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she received her Bachelor's degree in piano performance. During her time at the conservatory, Marie studied under the tutelage of renowned pianists such as Klaus Hellwig and Fabio Bidini. Marie's talent as a pianist was recognized early on in her career, and she began performing in concerts and competitions. In 2005, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy. This was a significant achievement for Marie, as it was her first major international competition. Over the years, Marie has performed in numerous concerts and recitals across Europe and the United States. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Joshua Bell.
