In 1940, Waldeland made her debut as a soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. She also began to develop a reputation as a chamber musician, performing with some of the most renowned musicians of her time. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Waldeland continued to perform as a soloist and chamber musician, both in Norway and abroad.
