Rosana Lanzelotte is a renowned Brazilian classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music through her exceptional skills as a harpsichordist and a musicologist. Born on August 22, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Lanzelotte grew up in a family of musicians, which played a significant role in shaping her musical career. Lanzelotte's musical journey began at a young age when she started playing the piano. However, she soon discovered her love for the harpsichord, a keyboard instrument that was popular in the Baroque era. She began studying the harpsichord under the guidance of renowned harpsichordist Edino Krieger, who recognized her exceptional talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. In 1974, Lanzelotte graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with a degree in harpsichord performance. She then went on to study musicology at the University of Paris, where she earned a master's degree in 1978. During her time in Paris, Lanzelotte had the opportunity to study under the guidance of renowned musicologists such as Philippe Beaussant and Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger, which helped her develop a deeper understanding of music history and theory. After completing her studies, Lanzelotte returned to Brazil and began her career as a harpsichordist and musicologist. She quickly gained recognition for her exceptional skills and became a sought-after performer and lecturer. In 1981, she founded the Brazilian Harpsichord Society, which aimed to promote the harpsichord and Baroque music in Brazil. Throughout her career, Lanzelotte has performed in numerous concerts and festivals around the world, including the Festival de Musique Baroque de Versailles, the Festival de Música Antiga de Barcelona, and the Festival de Música de Santa Catarina. She has also collaborated with renowned musicians such as Jordi Savall, Monica Huggett, and Gustav Leonhardt. One of Lanzelotte's most significant achievements was her recording of the complete harpsichord works of Brazilian composer Carlos Gomes. The recording, which was released in 1996, was the first complete recording of Gomes' harpsichord works and received critical acclaim. Lanzelotte's performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, which brought Gomes' music to life. In addition to her performances, Lanzelotte has also made significant contributions to musicology through her research and publications. She has written numerous articles and books on music history and theory, including "The Harpsichord in Brazil" and "The Harpsichord in the Americas."
