Victor Aviat was born on May 12, 1985, in Paris, France. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Aviat showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later picked up the violin and the cello, and by the age of ten, he was already performing in public. Aviat's musical education began at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Philippe Muller. He later continued his studies at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he received a full scholarship. During his time at Juilliard, Aviat studied with cellist Joel Krosnick and pianist Emanuel Ax. Aviat's career as a professional musician began in 2007 when he won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. This win catapulted him to international fame and led to numerous performance opportunities around the world. He has since performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Aviat's most memorable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010. He performed Dvorak's Cello Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing Aviat's playing as "mesmerizing." In addition to his solo performances, Aviat is also an avid chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Maxim Vengerov. In 2012, he formed the Aviat Piano Trio with pianist Hélène Grimaud and violinist Renaud Capuçon. The trio has since performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. Aviat's talent and dedication to music have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to his win at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, he has also won the Grand Prix at the International Rostropovich Cello Competition and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. He was also named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2011, which led to numerous performances and recordings with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Despite his success, Aviat remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for several hours a day and is always looking for ways to improve his playing.
