She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Landry was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Landry's talent was quickly recognized, and she began performing in public at the age of six. She won her first competition at the age of eight and went on to win numerous awards throughout her childhood and teenage years. In 2003, Landry was accepted into the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, where she studied under the renowned violinist Jean-Jacques Kantorow. During her time at the conservatory, Landry honed her skills and developed her own unique style of playing. After graduating from the conservatory in 2007, Landry began performing professionally. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate performer, and her concerts were highly sought after. One of Landry's most memorable performances was at the 2010 International Violin Competition in Indianapolis. She wowed the judges and audience with her performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, earning her first place in the competition. Landry's success continued, and she went on to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She also collaborated with other renowned musicians, such as pianist Lang Lang and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In addition to her performances, Landry was also a dedicated teacher. She taught at the Conservatoire de Paris and gave masterclasses around the world. Many of her students went on to become successful musicians in their own right. Throughout her career, Landry received numerous awards and accolades. In 2012, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her contributions to the arts. She was also a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award. Tragically, Landry's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2015. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and inspire others with her music. She passed away on June 15, 2016, at the age of 31. Rosemarie Landry was a gifted musician who left a lasting impact on the world of classical music. Her passion, talent, and dedication to her craft will continue to inspire generations of musicians to come.More....
