Artist Info
Role:PerformerClara Osowski is a classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a mezzo-soprano. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Osowski grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a music lover who introduced her to classical music at a young age. Osowski began singing in choirs and taking voice lessons in high school, and she went on to study music at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. After graduating from St. Olaf, Osowski continued her studies at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a Master of Music degree in vocal performance. During her time at the University of Minnesota, Osowski began to make a name for herself as a performer, winning several awards and competitions. In 2010, she was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and in 2011, she won the Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Scholarship. Since then, Osowski has gone on to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras and opera companies in the world. She has appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, among others. She has also performed in recitals and chamber music concerts throughout the United States and Europe. One of the highlights of Osowski's career was her performance in the world premiere of "The Fix," an opera by composer Joel Puckett and librettist Eric Simonson. The opera, which tells the story of the 1919 World Series scandal, was commissioned by the Minnesota Opera and premiered in 2019. Osowski played the role of Inez, the wife of one of the players involved in the scandal. The opera was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and Osowski's performance was praised for its emotional depth and musicality. In addition to her work as a performer, Osowski is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught voice lessons at the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and she has worked with young singers through the Minnesota Opera's Project Opera program. She is also a founding member of the Lorelei Ensemble, a Boston-based vocal ensemble that specializes in contemporary music. Throughout her career, Osowski has received numerous awards and accolades for her work as a performer and educator. In 2018, she was named a McKnight Artist Fellow, a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding artists in Minnesota. She has also been a recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Next Step Fund Grant. Despite her many accomplishments, Osowski remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She is known for her warm and engaging stage presence, as well as her ability to connect with audiences through her music. As she continues to perform and teach, she remains committed to sharing the beauty and power of classical music with others.More....
