Genre:VocalPeter Weihe is a renowned German guitarist and composer who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on August 18, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany, Weihe grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. From a young age, Weihe showed a keen interest in music and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Weihe's early musical education was primarily self-taught. He spent countless hours practicing and listening to recordings of his favorite guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck. However, he soon realized that he needed formal training to take his skills to the next level. In 1974, Weihe enrolled at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, where he studied classical guitar under the tutelage of renowned guitarists such as Michael Teuchert and Konrad Ragossnig. During his time at the university, Weihe honed his skills and developed a deep appreciation for classical music. After completing his studies, Weihe began his professional career as a session musician, playing guitar on numerous recordings for various artists. He quickly gained a reputation as a versatile and skilled guitarist, and his services were in high demand. In 1980, Weihe joined the German rock band, Nena, as their lead guitarist. The band's hit song, "99 Luftballons," became an international sensation, and Weihe's guitar work was a significant part of its success. He continued to tour and record with the band for several years, cementing his reputation as one of Germany's top guitarists. In addition to his work with Nena, Weihe also collaborated with other notable musicians, including Udo Lindenberg, Marius Müller-Westernhagen, and Peter Maffay. He also worked as a session musician for film and television soundtracks, including the popular German crime drama, Tatort. Despite his success as a rock guitarist, Weihe never lost his love for classical music. In 1990, he released his first solo album, "Guitarissimo," which showcased his virtuosity on the classical guitar. The album was a critical and commercial success, and Weihe began to focus more on his classical music career. Over the years, Weihe has performed in numerous concerts and festivals around the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Berlin Jazz Festival, and the Frankfurt Music Fair. He has also collaborated with many renowned classical musicians, including violinist Nigel Kennedy and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. In addition to his work as a performer, Weihe is also a prolific composer. He has written music for film and television, as well as for his own albums. His compositions are known for their intricate melodies and harmonies, as well as their emotional depth. Weihe's contributions to the world of classical music have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the German Record Critics' Award and the Echo Klassik Award. In 2015, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contributions to music. Today, Weihe continues to perform and compose music, inspiring a new generation of guitarists and classical musicians. His dedication to his craft and his passion for music have made him one of the most respected and beloved musicians in Germany and beyond.More....
