Born on December 12, 1982, in Tokyo, Japan, Kitaya showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Kitaya's early years were spent studying music at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. He continued his studies at the Yale School of Music, where he earned his Master of Music degree in piano performance. Throughout his career, Kitaya has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
