Born in Amsterdam in 1979, Cantor showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with renowned teachers in the Netherlands. Cantor's musical education continued at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she studied with Jan Wijn and Naum Grubert. She also spent time studying with other notable pianists, including Menahem Pressler and Murray Perahia. During her time at the conservatory, Cantor won several awards and prizes, including the prestigious Dutch National Piano Competition in 2002. After completing her studies, Cantor began performing extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She has also performed in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Cantor's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by many of the great composers of classical music. She has a particular affinity for the music of Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms, and has recorded several albums of their works. Her recordings have received critical acclaim and have been praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. In addition to her work as a soloist, Cantor is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including violinist Janine Jansen, cellist Pieter Wispelwey, and clarinetist Martin Fröst. Together, they have performed in major festivals and concert series throughout Europe and the United States. Cantor is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at several prestigious institutions, including the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Royal College of Music in London. She is known for her patient and supportive teaching style, and many of her students have gone on to successful careers in music. Throughout her career, Cantor has received numerous awards and honors. In 2007, she was awarded the Dutch Music Prize, the highest honor for a musician in the Netherlands.
