Role:ConductorLorenza Borrani is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist, conductor, and chamber musician. Born in 1971 in Viareggio, Italy, Borrani began playing the violin at the age of six. She showed exceptional talent and was soon accepted into the prestigious Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, where she studied under the guidance of renowned violinist Franco Gulli. Borrani's talent continued to flourish, and she went on to study at the Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Florence, where she earned her diploma in violin performance. She then went on to study with renowned violinist Salvatore Accardo at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where she honed her skills and developed her unique style. Borrani's career as a professional musician began in the early 1990s when she joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as a violinist. She quickly established herself as a talented musician and was soon promoted to the position of concertmaster. During her time with the orchestra, Borrani performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In addition to her work with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Borrani has also performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, and Sir Simon Rattle. Borrani's talent as a chamber musician is also widely recognized. She has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Hagen Quartet, the Alban Berg Quartet, and the Quartetto di Cremona. In 2002, she founded the Quartetto della Scala, which quickly established itself as one of the world's leading string quartets. In addition to her work as a performer, Borrani is also an accomplished conductor. She has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI. In 2016, she was appointed as the principal conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Borrani's talent and dedication to her craft have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1993, she was awarded the prestigious "Premio Paganini" for her outstanding performance in the Paganini Competition in Genoa. She has also been awarded the "Premio Abbiati" by the Italian National Association of Music Critics and the "Premio Franco Abbiati" by the Italian National Association of Musicologists. Borrani's performances have been widely praised by critics and audiences alike.
