The Colburn Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Los Angeles, California. The orchestra was founded in 2003 as part of the Colburn School, a performing arts school that offers training in music, dance, and theater. The Colburn Orchestra is made up of students from the Colburn School, as well as professional musicians from the Los Angeles area. The Colburn Orchestra has quickly established itself as one of the premier youth orchestras in the United States. The orchestra has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The orchestra has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors and soloists. The Colburn Orchestra's music director is Yehuda Gilad, a world-renowned conductor and clarinetist. Gilad has been the music director of the Colburn Orchestra since its inception, and has been instrumental in shaping the orchestra's sound and repertoire. Under Gilad's leadership, the Colburn Orchestra has become known for its precision, energy, and musicality. One of the highlights of the Colburn Orchestra's early years was its performance at Carnegie Hall in 2007.
