Kathi Wagner was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She was born into a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a violinist. From a young age, Kathi showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. Kathi's talent for music was evident from an early age, and she quickly progressed in her piano studies. By the age of ten, she had already won several local competitions and had begun performing in public. Her parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. At the age of 14, Kathi was accepted into the prestigious Vienna Conservatory, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist, Professor Franz Schmidt. Under his guidance, Kathi's skills as a pianist flourished, and she began to develop her own unique style. In 2003, Kathi graduated from the Vienna Conservatory with honors and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. During her time at Juilliard, Kathi continued to hone her skills as a pianist and was mentored by some of the most respected musicians in the world. In 2007, Kathi made her debut performance at Carnegie Hall, where she received critical acclaim for her interpretation of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, also known as the "Moonlight Sonata." Her performance was described as "mesmerizing" and "spellbinding," and it marked the beginning of a successful career as a concert pianist. Over the years, Kathi has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. She has collaborated with some of the most respected conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. Kathi's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She is known for her ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of each piece she performs, and her performances are often described as "transcendent" and "transformative." In addition to her successful career as a concert pianist, Kathi is also a respected teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris. Throughout her career, Kathi has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to classical music. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a successful career in music. In 2015, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a non-German citizen. Despite her success, Kathi remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to push herself to new heights and is always looking for ways to improve her skills as a pianist and teacher. Her passion for music is evident in every performance she gives, and she is widely regarded as one of the most talented and respected musicians of her generation.
