Genre:VocalNell Snaidas is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a soprano singer, conductor, and music educator. Born in New York City, Snaidas grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a music lover who exposed her to a wide range of musical genres from an early age. Snaidas began her musical training at the age of six, studying piano and voice. She later attended the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School, where she earned a Master of Music degree in early music performance. Snaidas' early career was marked by a series of notable performances and collaborations. In 2001, she made her debut at the Lincoln Center Festival, performing in the world premiere of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar. She also performed in the premiere of Golijov's La Pasión según San Marcos at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2002. In addition to her work with Golijov, Snaidas has collaborated with a number of other prominent composers and musicians. She has performed with the Boston Early Music Festival, the New York Collegium, and the Handel and Haydn Society, among others. She has also worked with the renowned conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner, performing in his Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra. Snaidas' work as a conductor and music educator has also been widely recognized. She has served as the music director of the New York Continuo Collective, a group dedicated to the performance of early music. She has also taught at a number of institutions, including the Juilliard School, the Mannes School of Music, and the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout her career, Snaidas has received numerous awards and accolades for her work. In 2003, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians.
