Born in Avià , a small town in Catalonia, Spain, on December 1976, Sabata grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. His father was a choir conductor and his mother was a pianist, and they both encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Sabata began his musical training at the age of six, studying piano and singing in his father's choir. He later attended the Escolania de Montserrat, a prestigious boys' choir school in Catalonia, where he continued to develop his vocal skills. After completing his studies at the Escolania, Sabata went on to study musicology at the University of Barcelona, where he earned a degree in musicology. In 2003, Sabata made his professional debut as a countertenor in a production of Handel's opera "Giulio Cesare" at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. His performance was met with critical acclaim, and he quickly established himself as one of the most promising young countertenors of his generation. Over the years, Sabata has performed in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Opéra National de Paris, and the Salzburg Festival. He has collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras in the world, including William Christie, Jordi Savall, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. One of Sabata's most notable performances was his portrayal of the title role in Handel's opera "Tamerlano" at the Teatro Real in Madrid in 2012. His performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and technical virtuosity, and it cemented his reputation as one of the leading countertenors of his generation. Sabata has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Premio Nacional de Música, the highest honor for music in Spain. He has also been awarded the International Opera Award for Best Male Singer and the Gramophone Award for Best Baroque Vocal Recording. In addition to his work as a performer, Sabata is also a passionate advocate for the music of the Baroque era. He has recorded several albums of Baroque music, including "Bad Guys," a collection of arias from Handel's operas, and "Catharsis," a collection of arias by the Italian composer Antonio Caldara. Sabata's unique voice and powerful performances have made him one of the most exciting and dynamic countertenors of his generation. His passion for music and his commitment to excellence have earned him a place among the most respected and admired classical music artists of our time.More....
