Bestor attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, where he studied music composition and piano performance. He graduated from BYU in 1980 with a Bachelor of Music degree. Bestor's first major success as a composer came in 1988 when he wrote the score for the film "The Magician of Lublin." The score was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition. Bestor's music is known for its blend of classical, pop, and jazz styles. He has composed music for a wide range of projects, including films, television shows, commercials, and stage productions. Some of his most notable works include the score for the film "The Swan Princess," the theme music for the television show "Good Morning America," and the music for the opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. In addition to his work as a composer, Bestor is also a performer. He has released numerous albums of his own music, including "Innovators," "Sketches," and "Seasons."
