From a young age, Kerp showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Kerp's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violinists in Germany and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional skills. At the age of 12, Kerp won first prize in the prestigious Jugend musiziert competition, which is one of the most important music competitions for young musicians in Germany. Kerp continued to excel in her studies and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During her studies, Kerp had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Maxim Vengerov and Anne-Sophie Mutter. After completing her studies, Kerp began performing professionally and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in Germany. She has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Kerp's most notable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010, where she performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Kerp was praised for her technical skill and emotional depth. Kerp has also been recognized for her solo performances, winning numerous awards and competitions throughout her career. In 2012, she won first prize in the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, which is one of the most prestigious violin competitions in the world. She has also won first prize in the International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" in Genoa, Italy, and the International Violin Competition "Rodolfo Lipizer" in Gorizia, Italy. She is a member of the Artemis Quartet, which is one of the most celebrated string quartets in the world. The quartet has won numerous awards and has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. Kerp is also a dedicated teacher and has taught masterclasses at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She is currently a professor of violin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Throughout her career, Kerp has been recognized for her exceptional talent and dedication to music. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Merit of Berlin, which is one of the highest honors awarded by the city of Berlin.
