Over the years, the Yale Quartet has undergone several personnel changes, but their commitment to excellence and their passion for chamber music has remained constant. Some of the most notable members of the quartet include violinists Erick Friedman, Kyung-Wha Chung, and Peter Oundjian, violist Jesse Levine, and cellist Paul Watkins. Throughout their illustrious career, the Yale Quartet has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and music festivals around the world. They have collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of our time, including pianists Emanuel Ax and Leon Fleisher, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. One of the highlights of the Yale Quartet's career was their performance at the White House in 1961, where they played for President John F. Kennedy and his guests. The quartet also performed at the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter in 1977, and at the United Nations in 1985. The Yale Quartet has also been recognized for their exceptional recordings, which have received critical acclaim and numerous awards. Some of their most notable recordings include the complete string quartets of Beethoven, Brahms, and Bartok, as well as works by Mozart, Schubert, and Shostakovich.
