The duo consists of Italian guitarists Matteo Mondiello and Christian Grondona, who have been playing together since 1998. Christian Grondona was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1971. He began playing the guitar at the age of six and went on to study at the Niccolò Paganini Conservatory in Genoa. He later continued his studies at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he received a diploma with honors. Grondona has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition in Spain. Matteo Mondiello was born in Naples, Italy, in 1975. He started playing the guitar at the age of eight and went on to study at the Conservatory of Music in Naples. He later continued his studies at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he received a diploma with honors. Mondiello has also won several awards and competitions, including the International Guitar Competition of Gargnano in Italy. The Grondona-Mondiello Guitar Duo was founded in 1998, when the two guitarists met at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. They quickly discovered a shared passion for classical guitar music and began playing together. The duo's first performance was at the Accademia Chigiana, where they received a standing ovation. Since then, the Grondona-Mondiello Guitar Duo has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals around the world.
