The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the best classical albums of the year by The New York Times. Another notable work by Brittelle is his 2018 album, "Spiritual America," which was commissioned by the chamber orchestra, Alarm Will Sound. The album explores themes of spirituality and identity, with influences from gospel music, hip-hop, and electronic dance music. The album features collaborations with a variety of musicians, including the rapper, Wye Oak, and the singer, Jenn Wasner. Brittelle's compositions often incorporate unconventional instrumentation and electronic elements, and he is known for his use of complex rhythms and harmonies.
