Period:BaroqueEnsemble Fraal is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in the Netherlands and is known for its innovative and dynamic performances that showcase the beauty and complexity of classical music. The founding members of Ensemble Fraal were violinist Merel Vercammen, cellist Amber Docters van Leeuwen, and pianist Tobias Borsboom. All three musicians had already established themselves as soloists and chamber musicians in their own right, but they came together to form Ensemble Fraal with the goal of exploring new and exciting ways to perform classical music. Since its founding, Ensemble Fraal has grown to include a number of other talented musicians, including violist Georgy Kovalev, clarinetist Lars Wouters van den Oudenweijer, and flutist Felicia van den End. The ensemble's core members, however, remain Vercammen, Docters van Leeuwen, and Borsboom. One of the hallmarks of Ensemble Fraal's performances is their commitment to exploring the full range of emotions and moods that classical music can evoke. The ensemble's repertoire includes works from a wide variety of composers and time periods, from Bach and Beethoven to contemporary composers like Arvo Pärt and John Adams. Ensemble Fraal has performed at a number of prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam, and the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. The ensemble has also performed at festivals in Germany, Belgium, and France. One of the highlights of Ensemble Fraal's career was their performance at the 2016 Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. The ensemble performed a program of works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as a new work by Dutch composer Willem Jeths. The performance was widely praised for its energy, passion, and technical precision. Ensemble Fraal has also been recognized for its outstanding performances with a number of awards and honors. In 2014, the ensemble won the Dutch Classical Talent Award, which is given annually to the most promising young classical musicians in the Netherlands. The award included a cash prize and a series of concerts throughout the country. In addition to their performances, Ensemble Fraal is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and they have also developed a program called "Music for the Senses," which combines live music with other sensory experiences like food and wine. Overall, Ensemble Fraal is a dynamic and innovative classical music ensemble that is dedicated to exploring the full range of emotions and moods that classical music can evoke. With their commitment to excellence and their passion for music, the ensemble is sure to continue to delight audiences for years to come.More....
