Turn On The Music is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for performing and promoting classical music. The ensemble is based in New York City and has quickly gained a reputation for its innovative and engaging performances. The founding members of Turn On The Music are violinist Sarah Lee, cellist David Kim, and pianist Emily Chen. All three musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and ensembles before coming together to form Turn On The Music. They were joined by violist Rachel Park and clarinetist Michael Lee, both of whom brought their own unique talents and perspectives to the group. From the beginning, Turn On The Music set out to create performances that were both accessible and engaging for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. They sought to break down the barriers that often exist between classical music and the general public, and to show that classical music can be both beautiful and relevant to modern life. One of the highlights of Turn On The Music's early career was their performance at the 2016 New York International Music Festival. The ensemble received rave reviews for their performance of Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio, which was described as "passionate, precise, and deeply moving." The ensemble was awarded the festival's top prize, the Gold Medal, for their outstanding performance. Since then, Turn On The Music has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. They have also been invited to perform at numerous music festivals and events around the world, including the Edinburgh International Festival and the Salzburg Festival. One of the ensemble's most memorable performances was their 2018 concert at Carnegie Hall, where they performed a program of works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann. The concert was sold out weeks in advance, and the audience was captivated by the ensemble's virtuosic playing and dynamic stage presence. In addition to their performances, Turn On The Music is also committed to promoting classical music education and outreach. They regularly give masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and they have partnered with several schools and community organizations to bring classical music to underserved communities. Turn On The Music has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and outreach work. In addition to their Gold Medal at the New York International Music Festival, they have been awarded the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grant and the National Endowment for the Arts Art Works Grant. Despite their success, the members of Turn On The Music remain committed to their mission of making classical music accessible and relevant to modern audiences. They continue to push the boundaries of traditional classical music performance, incorporating elements of theater, dance, and multimedia into their shows. As they look to the future, Turn On The Music is excited to continue exploring new ways to engage audiences and promote classical music. They are currently working on a new album of contemporary classical music, which they hope will inspire a new generation of classical music lovers.
