Artist Info
Period:BaroqueGenre:ChamberKeyboardBlandine Rannou is a French harpsichordist and pianist who has gained international recognition for her performances of Baroque and Classical music. She was born on December 22, 1974, in Paris, France, and grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a composer and her mother was a pianist, so music was always a part of her life. Rannou began playing the piano at the age of four and later studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She also studied harpsichord with Kenneth Gilbert and Christophe Rousset. In 1994, she won first prize in the harpsichord competition at the Festival International de Musique Baroque de Lamèque in Canada. Rannou has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in major concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Jordi Savall, Philippe Herreweghe, and Reinhard Goebel. She has also recorded extensively, with over 20 albums to her name. One of Rannou's most notable performances was her debut at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2002. She received critical acclaim for her performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations, which was described as "a revelation" by The Guardian. She has also performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Salzburg Festival, and the Festival de Saintes. In addition to her performances, Rannou is also a respected teacher. She has taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. She has also given masterclasses at institutions such as the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Rannou has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2005, she was awarded the Prix de la Révélation Soliste Instrumental by the French Association of Music Critics. In 2010, she was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of her contributions to the arts. Despite her success, Rannou remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She has said that her goal as a musician is to "serve the music" and to bring it to life for audiences. She continues to perform and record, and her passion for music shows no signs of slowing down.More....
