Rumi's early years were spent studying music in Japan. She attended the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where she studied under the renowned pianist and teacher, Hiroko Nakamura. After completing her studies in Japan, Rumi moved to the United States to further her education. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the guidance of the legendary pianist, Emanuel Ax. Rumi's time at Juilliard was a formative experience, and she credits Ax with helping her to develop her unique style and approach to music. Throughout her career, Rumi has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues. She has played at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall, among others. Her performances have been praised for their technical precision, emotional depth, and musicality. Rumi has also won numerous awards and accolades for her work as a musician. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise. The grant provided Rumi with the financial support she needed to continue her studies and pursue her career as a professional musician.
